I am not sure if you had the chance of reading the amasing new rules cev ppl have thought for the cups next year.... First of all, the names of the cups: the former cev cup will be called challenge cup and the former top teams cup will become cev cup (just to be clear, coherent and avoid confusion.. isn't it obvious?)

8)
Here and there, there are some wise words that sound like this (the second could have been addressed directly to the Italian teams... )

- A maximum of 18 players’ licenses will be registered for the Champions’ League teams of which a minimum of 12 players must be registered on each match scoresheet
-In case of violation of the fair-play or any ethic rules, using players of a second team and thereby deliberately influencing the ranking in the various pools, the CEV Executive Committee could inflict high financial sanctions to the culpable club(s), or disciplinary sanctions such as cancelling points awarded for matches won/lost or exclusion of the team for one or more years.
If you happen to read some other intelligent new rules, it would be nice if they could all be stated here... Just to rationally show how irrational ppl are ruling volley today...

The other important point I wanted to raise was:
Italy has renounced to play the challenge cup (ex cev) next year. After having had a look to the dates decided by cev for the cups' matches, the Italian league has decided to lift up some of the weight to their players, by giving up one of the cup and changing their internal play off schedule in sight of the Olympic Games. The League has also added they still think that the physical condition of players who will play the European cups will be put seriously at risk by the already too tigh schedule....

All of this if - of course- will be confirmed that the Olympic pre-season to be disputed in Germany and Portugal will start in late may 2008 as anticipated. Otherwise ....
